North Palm Beach, FL (October 4, 2023) – Friends of MacArthur Beach State Park is pleased to announce the appointment of four new members to their Board of Directors: Ilan Kaufer, Jessica Mason, Rob Rabenecker, and Rachel Shanker for a three-year term beginning October 2023.

“The directors and I are proud to welcome these four incredible leaders as new members to the Friends of MacArthur Beach Board of Directors,” said Veronica Frehm, CEO of Friends of MacArthur Beach. “These individuals will add tremendous value to the organization with their philanthropic expertise from across the public, private and nonprofit sectors. We are excited to channel Ilan, Jessica, Rob and Rachel’s talent, expertise and energy into furthering our mission.”

 Ilan Kaufer: An External Affairs Manager for Florida Power & Light Co., Ilan manages external relations for portions of Palm Beach County and all of Okeechobee County. Ilan has worked for FPL since 2009 and has served the company in various roles after first joining the company as an attorney. Ilan served as an elected Council Member of the Town of Jupiter from 2013-2022, and in that role, served as Vice Mayor for 3 years.

Jessica Mason: Jessica has been an experienced Director of Business Operations for Gardens Wealth Management since 2016. Prior to her current role she spent over six years in non-profit and corporate finance and accounting. Jessica served as co-chair for the Friends of MacArthur Beach annual fundraiser in 2023.

Rob Rabenecker: During his 24-year career in professional baseball management, Rob was the GM of the West Palm Beach Expos, Jupiter Hammerheads and the Palm Beach Cardinals. He was named Florida State League Executive of the Year in 1992 and was an integral part in the management and construction of Roger Dean Stadium in Jupiter. In 2007 Rob left the baseball business to join Chick-fil-A as the operator/franchisee for two locations: the Mall at Wellington Green and Royal Palm Beach.

 Rachel Shanker: As Manatee Lagoon’s Conservation and Education Manager, Rachel offers engaging opportunities for people of all ages to learn about the endangered and unique Florida manatee, the Lake Worth Lagoon ecosystem they inhabit and the role power plants play in sustaining the species. Rachel volunteered on the Events Committee for the Friends of MacArthur Beach annual fundraiser in 2023.

 The new appointments to the Board will join the following Board members for 2023-2024: Latimer Farr (President), Jodi Butler (President Elect), Julie Miles (Past President), Dean Kaplan (Vice President), Peter Jordan (Treasurer), Teri Jabour (Secretary), Shannon Armstrong, Douglas Lawson, Karen Marcus, W Mason, Jessica Miles, Ph.D., Roger O’Brien, Chelsea Reed, Becky Robinson, Elizabeth Romfh, Deborah Searcy, Ph.D., and Donald Solodar.

John D. MacArthur Beach State Park, Palm Beach County’s only state park, is situated on a barrier island between the Atlantic Ocean and the Lake Worth Lagoon.
