Community Corner – Resort Living

Summer has arrived and there is no better time to get outside and explore the great outdoors! A favorite warm weather activity for all ages, standup paddle boarding (SUP) serves as an opportunity to get better acquainted with the nature around you, affording a perfect view of the wildlife above and below your board. It’s no wonder the peaceful yet exhilarating sport of standup paddle boarding is the fastest growing sport in the United States and the  aterways in Florida include some of the best adventures to explore by board, now including MacArthur Beach State Park in  orth Palm Beach.

Friends of MacArthur Beach State Park, MacBeach, with the help of their  concessionaire, High Point Paddle Adventures, is now offering visitors standup paddle boarding as a new and exciting way to explore the Park. Bringing paddle boarding to MacBeach has truly been a team effort,” says Executive Director, Veronica Frehm. “Between High Point Paddle Adventures, MacBeach Park staff and private donations, we have been able to clean up the Park’s south paddle launch and create a beautiful space for our visitors to launch from,” she adds.

Whether you are a beginner trying to stand on the board and take your first strokes, or an experienced paddler, this adventure is excellent for all skill levels and age ranges. “I am honored and excited to be a part of the MacBeach family, says Alexis Lautzker, Founder of High Point Paddle Adventures.  Visitors will be able to rent paddle boards by the hour exploring the Park’s beautiful  estuary and Munyon Island or choose a  guided nature tour from our highly trained staff,” she adds.

John D. MacArthur Beach State Park, Palm Beach County’s only state park, is situated on a barrier island between the Atlantic  Ocean and the Lake Worth Lagoon. The Park is made up of 438 acres of pristine  coastal land and contains four different communities or habitats including seven species of plants and twenty-two species of animals on the endangered or threatened  list. MacArthur Beach is truly an “Island in Time”.
