We recommend that you have confidence and comfortability in a kayak. Paddlers should be able to perform basic paddling maneuvers: forward, backward, turns
Are children allowed?
Children that are 10 years old and accompanied by an adult can participate. Every minor needs to be accompanied by an adult in their kayak. The adult and minor will be a pair in a double kayak.
How long will we be on the water?
This round-trip program lasts approximately 2 hours, with frequent stops and discussion.
Should I be prepared to get wet?
Yes! You will get wet getting into and out of the kayak. During the kayaking tour you will also get wet as these are sit on top, self-bailing kayaks.
Can I explore independently?
No, this event is a guided eco-tour with slow paddling and stops along the way to learn about MacArthur Beach State Park and the flora and fauna. All attendees must stay with the group. If you would like to independently explore the park, please feel free to come rent a kayak or standup paddleboard through our gift shop during park hours. Check out more information about that on our website: https://macarthurbeach.org/kayaking/.
Can I bring my own kayak on the tour?
No, all participants must use the kayaks provided by the park for this tour. If you would like to explore the park with your own kayak or standup paddleboard, you can bring them to our public launch during normal park hours within our main entrance.
How big are your tours?
Our max group size is 10 total tandem kayaks – the perfect size to hear our guides and enjoy conversation along the way.
Can I bring my pet?
No, this is NOT a pet friendly experience. Pets will not be allowed for this experience, with state listed exceptions for service animals. If you wish to kayak with your pet, we offer kayaks for rent which allow animals to join during normal park hours through our gift shop.
Can I attend in a single kayak?
Tandem kayaks will be used for this eco-tour. If your group has an uneven number of people, please call 561-776-7449 ext. 103 to inquire about special arrangements. Space for single participants is not guaranteed, but we will try to accommodate your group by placing them with another single participant if available.
